The Cubo Chair

Description

The Cubo Chair is built around one of the most intelligent design tensions in contemporary furniture, a perfect cube exterior containing a curved tub interior. The outer body is four clean, flat upholstered panels forming a rigid geometric square. Within that cube, a semicircular inner bowl is carved, a soft continuous curve that cradles the sitter with warmth and depth. This dialogue between the hard and the soft, the geometric and the organic, is the Cubo’s entire design statement, and with extraordinary restraint. The dense basket-weave boucle upholstery runs seamlessly across both the rigid exterior and curved interior, unified by material where form divides. A solid dark plinth base runs the full width of the chair, giving it an architectural grounding that makes it read as much as sculpture as seating. From the front, pure geometry. From the side, revealed warmth. The Cubo is a chair that rewards looking and an even greater reward to sit in.
